Not everyone wants to spend their holiday in total idleness, refreshing though that can be. For those who prefer a more energetic vacation, Cyprus has a wealth of activities to interest even the most demanding visitor.

In winter, the higher reaches of the Troodos mountains are covered in snow, and it is possible, just, to go skiing in the morning and swimming in the afternoon. There are a few ski slopes of reasonable length, and equipment can be hired at the ski shop. If the sea is really too cold for swimming, there are plenty of hotels with attractive pools that can be used for a modest fee.

Many hotels also have well-equipped gyms, and other facilities, that can be used on a short-term basis.

Pafos can now boast three golf courses, one in the hills at Tsada, overlooking Pafos, one along the coast towards Limassol at Secret Valley, and the latest one at Aphrodite Hills, just beyond Secret Valley. There are several beautiful areas around the coasts, both north and south-west, for swimming and scuba diving, and for the more adventurous, there are several very good diving centres, which cater for the beginners or experts. Motor boats can be hired at both Pafos and Latchi (on the north coast). For water-skiing and wind-surfing, Limassol is only a 3/4 hour drive away, but parascending is available in most coastal resorts, including Pafos, which also has a sailing club.

This end of the island is renowned for beautiful scenery and stunning views, and there are hundreds of paths for walking, and tracks for cycling. Bird-watching is also very popular, both for the rich variety of resident birds, and for the migrant birds.

Other activities are being developed and catered for all the time. Ask us if you need any arrangements making for you prior to your arrival.
